I love the subjects space and gravity. This photo series was for the "Lufthansa Exclusive Magazine". Lufthansa is one of the most popular and known Airlines in Germany. They lead two magazines.
Before I began with the shooting I developed a concept. To get inspired for this theme I watched a few movies about space, as an example „2001: A Space Odyssey“ of 1968. I studied the reflections of the light on the spaceships in order to get an idea of what kind of light exists in space and which sort would look realistic for this shooting. I immediately noticed that I will need hard light, because in space there are no clouds and this way the light isn ́t softened when it shines on an object.
All objects of the photos were extra designed for this occasion. The Broncolor normal reflectors (P70) were perfect for this job, because they produced are hard (or un-softened) light on the shoes and the other objects.
We bought glitter that represented the stars in the photos. Through the flashlights they gave each photo a beautiful sparkly effect. This means that the glitter in the images is real! The Scoro of Broncholor helped me a lot for this part of the shooting. It enabled me to get clear high speed shots of each shining particle of the glitter.
As you probably can imagine, at the end of the shooting my studio (especially the floor) was very „glittery" and sparkling like a bright star. That was a very beautiful sight.
Enclosed are a few "making of" images of the set and it ́s props. I hope this helps you to create a clearer picture of my work behind the scenes.
